After a busy summer of travel we are back in our city for a while and really excited about the work we are doing.  We have spent a lot of time lately learning the Sacrifice Stories (Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel, Noah, Abraham, Moses and Jesus).  These are stories I am sure you are familiar with, but we are learning to share them in a way that teaches people the importance of sacrifices and using this to share about the ultimate sacrifice made by Jesus.  We are almost done learning the stories in English, so the next step will be to learn them in our new language.  The past few weeks we have been spending quite a bit of time focusing on learning to share the Truth in our new language, we have both worked on learning to share our testimonies.  In September we will be going back to language school a few days a week to continue our language learning.

We have also had quite a bit of time to spend with our friends lately.  We have been playing basketball, going out to eat, and even going to church with our friends.  This past week was Independence Day and we went to a neighborhood party and spent time with our neighbors.

Now that we are back into the swing of things we have several requests for you to lift up to the Father:

  • Roger’s back has been bothering him for about a month.  He didn’t do anything specific to hurt it, but has been to the doctor in our city and is now going through a round of physical therapy.  Pray for the doctors that are treating him and that the pain would go away so that he can continue playing basketball with some new friends.
  • We want to meet more new people.  Pray that we will have the opportunity to meet married couples and college students in the next few weeks.
  • Pray that we will be able to have meaningful conversations with people and share the Truth with them.
  • Pray that we will be able to share our testimonies and the sacrifice stories with those around us.
  • Pray for us as we continue studying language.

Some updates on other prayer requests and a few praises:

  • We had a wonderful time in Thailand, we spent time with friends from other countries and friends from college.
  • We came back from Thailand recharged and ready to work again.
  • The volunteers that have been here over the summer have had many opportunities to meet students and share with them.
  • We were able to go to church with a married couple, N&J.  Hopefully we will be able to encourage them to share with their friends.
  • We have had our cat for about three months now and since that time have not had many rats inside our house!  When we first moved here this was one of the biggest struggles we had.
