The Islands Update

Dear Friends,

We have now been in our new home for a little over a month.  Everything is continuing to go well; we have visited the Police Station and the Immigration Office to complete paperwork for our visas and are now proud immigrants of this wonderful country.

We are beginning to understand the phrase “a lot of red tape” in a whole new way.  In order to get our work permit visa and register with the police we had to be fingerprinted a total of six times at two different locations.

We have been in language school since we arrived here and feel like we are beginning to communicate a little better.  Ibu Ning (our helper) is usually the victim of our broken speech.  One exciting milestone for us was being able to read a sign at the swimming pool we recently visited.

Prayer Requests

• Pray for our helper’s son who was bitten by a snake yesterday, the medicine she needs is very expensive
• Pray that we will continue to adjust to the new culture in which we are living
• Pray that we will quickly learn the language so that we can share with students
• Pray that we will have the energy to seek out people to talk with, after studying for three hours each morning we are normally exhausted

Praises

• Roger was able to share that he is a follower of Jesus with a man he recently visited in the hospital
• We are over jet lag and are adjusting to the heat
