Local Projects we are involved with:

Women on Mission
This vital ministry impacted the world many times over in its years of existence. These women work diligently to learn about and support world missions. Join them any time. They meet the third Tuesday of the month, 1:30 pm. Contact Connie Meredith at 412-7415 for more information.

Oldham County Ministerial Association
OCMA makes Matthew 25 come alive!  Although Oldham County is one of the wealthiest counties in the Commonwealth, there still are those who are without adequate food and clothing.  OCMA coordinates efforts of the churches to meet physical and spiritual needs of struggling families.  In the fall, they collect school supplies to assist 900 students getting ready for the school year.  During the holiday season, hygiene/needs baskets are gathered to distribute to the elderly.  Every Monday from 6-8 p.m., the Infant/Young Child Resource Center at Ballardsville Baptist Church is accepting donated baby equipment, clothing and supplies.  There also is an adult clothing center open at the same time.

You can help immediately in the following ways:

  •  Bring dry and canned foods for the OCMA food pantry and place them in the marked container outside  the church office suite.
  •  Volunteer to provide transportation for people with medical and emergency needs.
  •  Volunteer to serve lunches to children included in the La Grange summer food program.

Fellowship Fund
This fund benefits those in our church family and community who are in crisis/need.  Needs are made known to the church office and then our benevolence team considers how we might provide assistance.  Please call our church office (241-8534) to express a need you or a friend might have.

Servant Evangelism

We are being USED by God to show God’s love in a practical way through a variety of projects.  You may find us in a neighborhood raking leaves, or at an intersection passing out free Pepsis, or in an apartment complex distributing Christmas stockings full of goodies, or at a local business providing a cup of coffee along with a pastry to the workers.  Projects are planned about six times each year.  It’s great for families!  To get involved or find out information about our next project, contact Chris Platt at 241-8534 or Chris@crestwoodbaptist.org.

SENT is a team committed to evangelism.  Jesus said in John 17:18, “As you sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world.”  This team senses they have been sent by Jesus into our community specifically to do one-on-one witnessing at various Oldham County events throughout the year.  Any person with a passion for evangelism is welcome to join the team!  For more information or to join the SENT team, please contact Bernie Koontz by email at hbkoontz@bellsouth.net, or by phone at 502-225-0142

Habitat for Humanity
Each spring our Men’s Ministry coordinates CBC’s involvement in the building of a Habitat house.  In recent years our projects have been located in Louisville’s west end.  We work side-by-side with Christ-followers from other evangelical churches to complete the house.  Skilled carpenters lead the way but this ministry is not limited to the experts!  If you can hammer a nail, hang a door, or paint a wall, you are welcome to join the team!

The Dodii Foundation
The Dodii Foundation is dedicated to providing hope through education, compassion, and support to individuals and families touched by cancer.  Frank and Cindy Plewinski founded Dodii (Defender of Dignity in Illness) two years after Cindy’s mother was diagnosed with cancer.  They have created a line of products including cancer specific greeting cards, dolls, hats, teddy bears, chemo caps, and gift baskets that can be used for encouragement.  Their desire is to comfort the hearts of hurting people, whether they be families affiliated with Crestwood Baptist Church or in various locations across our nation.

For more information contact Frank and Cindy at 241-6742 or dodii@aol.com.  Their web site is www.dodii.org

Backside of the Track
CBC ministers to the workers and their families on the backside of the track at Churchill Downs at least two times each year.  Soon after the Kentucky Derby, we host an outdoor celebration event which includes games for the children, music from our fabulous praise band, and a meal.  CBC members float through the crowd sharing Christ.  During the Christmas season, once again a meal is offered and the band shares Christmas songs mixed in with praise and worship music.  The plan of salvation is shared.  The evening concludes with Christmas gifts for all of the children.  Contact Tammy Underwood at 241-7979 to participate in this ministry.

Prison Ministry
Oldham County is home to some of our state prisons and CBC has not missed the opportunity to minister to the inmates at KSR, Roederer, and Luther Luckett.  Our men have been involved in evangelism, discipleship and encouragement.  Below is a list of current activities and contact persons:
  • Unit 5 Bible Study, Roederer, Tuesday nights – Chuck Littrell, 241-7816
  • Unit 5 Worship Service, Roederer, Sundays 12:30-2:00 p.m. – Chuck Littrell, 241-7816
  • KSR Bible Study, Thursday nights – Craig Kidwell, 241-1528
  • Luther Luckett Bible Study, Wednesdays 7:00-8:30 p.m., Lambert Franklin, 243-0309
  • KSR Basketball – Kim Maikranz, 243-8821

Repair Affair
Each fall our men’s ministry leads the way in assisting a family through the Oldham County Repair Affair.  The Oldham-Trimble Association’s Director of Missions provides us with a project.  In recent years, we have replaced sinks, repaired front doors, painted the inside and outside of the house, and shared the love of Jesus with the homeowners.

CHRISTIAN MEDICAL & DENTAL ASSOCIATION (CMDA) is an interdenominational Christian movement on campuses across the United States.  Their mission is to see lives changed by the timeless message of Jesus Christ.  CBC supports the ministry to the students of the University of Louisville medical and dental schools.  Go to www.cmdalouisville.com for more information.

M25 OFFERING
When the new CBC facility was built, the vision was cast that over the next ten years we plan to raise $1,000,000 (over and beyond our tithes) to meet the needs of the poorest of poor.  This offering was named M25, the Matthew 25 offering.  Twice each year an offering is received to meet the needs of the poorest of the poor in “
Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8).  Thus far, funds have helped a local food ministry and homeless shelter.  Other funds have assisted a food and clothing ministry in eastern Kentucky, an outreach to lepers in Ghana, a feeding center in Dominican Republic, and a ministry to street children in Romania.

Rosehaven
Rosehaven is a transitional home located in LaGrange, Kentucky, for women and children victims of domestic abuse.  Their mission is to change lives, one at a time.  They are the only program of this kind in the tri-county area of Oldham, Henry, and Trimble counties.

Rosehaven not only provides a place to reside but also unconditional love.  This is accomplished through the offering of services that enable individuals to be equipped with the necessary skills to become self-sufficient and to establish a healthy working family unit.

For more information or opportunities to help, you can reach Executive Director Betty Decker at 222-1128.  Visit their web site at www.oldhamcounty.com/cfwic

Red Cross of Oldham County
CBC partners with the Red Cross to care for people in need.  Those with emergency needs are directed to this agency for immediate help.  Our second connection point is blood drives.  Our recreation ministry coordinates dates with the Red Cross to keep blood supply levels strong.

Portland Promise Center (formerly Portland United Methodist Center)
Executive Director Larry Stoess calls PPC a 3-D Ministry that focuses its energy and resources around three core values: spiritual development, leadership development, and community development.  He believes the center is a place where church and community work together to anchor the Portland community in faith, hope and love, empower the area’s children to be all God intends for them to be, and create a neighborhood that is safe and healthy.  The center is located at 1831 Baird Street .  For more information or opportunities to help, you can contact Larry at 502-776-2635.

CBC partners with this ministry at various times throughout the year.  Watch for projects and make a difference alongside Christian friends in the Portland community.

EDGE OUTREACH
“Generating excitement about missions through partnerships near and far”

EDGE OUTREACH connects youth, adults and churches to long-term mission partnerships locally, nationally and abroad. It engages the talents and resources in our community with people already on the mission field.

EDGE not only trains volunteers for the work they'll do on-site, but encourages them to pursue a lifestyle of serving others everyday.

Executive Director Mark Hogg can be reached at 568-6342.
Their website can be found at www.edgeoutreach.com.

Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association
Baptist churches across Oldham and Trimble Counties share resources and work together in strengthening churches and community ministries and reaching this area with the gospel.  CBC prayerfully and financially supports OTBA.  Rick Lucas, Director of Missions for our association, can be reached at 225-9449.

Iglesia Bautista de Amanecer
Churches of the Oldham-Trimble Baptist Association sponsor Iglesia Bautista de Amanecer, a Hispanic church meeting in Ballardsville.  God has done a great work through this ministry in reaching and discipling Hispanics living in this area.  CBC’s involvement has included prayer and financial support as well as providing meals from time to time.  We follow the Acts 1:8 model in planting churches – this church fulfills our desire to plant churches in “ Jerusalem .”

Cooperative Program
CBC gives generously to the Cooperative Program.  Southern Baptist churches across the United States give a portion of their offerings to the Cooperative Program to fund missionary work both home and abroad, seminary training for ministers, and a plethora of ministries.  Visit www.kybaptist.org/cpmissions to learn more.
